Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (RTRDA) conducted a visit to assess the readiness and potential for industrial production of rubber track components and other railway system products.
RTRDA conducted a site visit to assess the preparedness and potential for industrial production of rubber track components and other railway system products at S.K. Polymer Company (Automotive Plant) and its subsidiary, Thai Rubb Tech Co., Ltd (Compound Plant), located in Samut Sakhon Province. The purpose of this visit was to promote and support the enhancement of standards and testing procedures to ensure that the production of domestic rail system parts meets international standards
On Thursday, 22nd February 2024, the Standards and Testing Research and Development Unit of RTRDA led by Asst. Prof. Pisit Saeng-Xuto, Committee Member of the Agency, along with Dr. Sathian Charoenrien and Mr. Watcharachan Sirisuwannatash, Advisors of the Agency and the RTRDA team, conducted a site visit to S.K. Polymer Company and its subsidiary, Thai Rubb Tech Co., Ltd. These companies specialize in the design and production of rubber products for various industries, including electronics, automobiles, and rail systems. Their product range includes Platform Gap Fillers, Rubber Pads, Rubber Rail Insulators, Sleeper Gap Fillers, Rubber Railway Level Crossing Panels, and Strap Hangers, among others, demonstrating their potential to manufacture high-quality domestic rail system components.
The RTRTD’s primary focus is to develop the production capacity of domestic rail system component manufacturers to provide replacements for the rail transport system, thereby stimulating the domestic economy. Additionally, the RTRDA aims to establish collaborative partnerships with private sector entities that are willing to contribute to the advancement of the industry. The site visit served as a crucial step in establishing standardized testing methodologies for the country's railway system components to meet international standards, aligning with the RTRDA's mission to support increased production of rail system components domestically. This initiative aims to foster acceptance of domestically produced products, enhance production capabilities, and stimulate trade and investment within the country.
