RTRDA and Kasetsart University have formalized collaboration through Signing of Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in advancing Innovative Railway Technology.

On January 29, 2024, Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (RTRDA) and Kasetsart University (KU) joined forces by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at advancing innovative railway technology in the country. The signing ceremony, held at the Information Building, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Kasetsart University, saw Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chotchai Charoenngam, Chairman of RTRDA, and Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University, co-signing the MOU. Witnessing the signing were distinguished representatives from both organizations, including Mrs. Yaowalux Champeeratana, Advisor to RTRDA, Dr. Kanrawee Thongpull, Vice President and Acting President of RTRDA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kulapa Kuldilok, Associate Dean for Administration Affairs and Organization Development at the Faculty of Economics, KU, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Chakrit Potchanasin, Head of the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, KU, among others. This collaboration features a shared commitment to leveraging expertise and resources for the advancement of railway technology in Thailand.

Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat emphasized the importance of considering all aspects of the impact when developing innovation or enhancing the country's infrastructure. He highlighted the critical role of science in evaluating the impact of research and development, as it not only demonstrates the worthiness of the investment but also reflects guidelines for improving the quality of life for people in the area. Additionally, it encompasses guidelines for preserving the environment alongside development, ensuring sustainable development for the future.

The signing of the MOU at this juncture is deemed a significant stride in allying efforts, with a focal point on modern research and development. This endeavor will nurture an academic team fortified with expertise, experience, and the skills of personnel from RTRDA. This collaboration entails offering guidance and cooperation in research and academic services, with a special emphasis on knowledge transfer, particularly in the realm of economic, social, and environmental impact assessment. Such an initiative is pivotal as it underscores the advantages of ongoing research and development across various technologies in the rail industry.
