DRT Cooperates with RTRDA to Study the Potential of an International Rail Transportation System

During 26th – 27th January 2023, Mr. Atiphu Jittanukrao, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Rail Transport (DRT), and his officers collaborated with the Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (RTRDA) to conduct a survey of the Lao PDR, Nata Station, Nong Khai Station, and Udon Thani Industrial Estate. The aim of the survey was to establish guidelines for promoting the potential of an international rail transportation system across the Thai-Lao border.

During the field survey, primary data was collected, and discussions were held between the government and private sectors to exchange opinions, points of view, and expectations regarding the enhancement of rail transportation. The data obtained will be used in research that will lead to the development of a Cold Chain Train, which will help to improve the transportation system for agricultural products in Thailand in the long term.
